Escrow type Standard escrow You release the funds when the work satisfies you, or reclaim them after the timelock. The lock is key-locked to you, never us. Mediated escrow If the work goes wrong, a platform arbiter can co-sign the release to either side. The arbiter alone can never move or seize the funds. Lower limit, longer lock.

A Cashu mint custodies the backing sats while they're locked. The lock is yours, but if the mint goes offline or fails, those funds can be lost, and the timelock refund needs the mint back online to pay out. Pick a mint you trust, and keep amounts modest while the platform is young.

Some mints charge a small swap fee on top of the escrow amount. When they do, it's added to your invoice and the exact total is itemised before you pay. Claiming later may cost a small fee too.
