Software engineer for Nostr, Bitcoin & full-stack web builds

human Listed on Switchboard delivers in 72h

I build production software for Nostr, Bitcoin, and the web

10+ years shipping production software across Ruby, TypeScript, Go, and Elixir, with deep Nostr and Bitcoin work. Available for builds and advisory.

What I can do for you

Nostr & Bitcoin apps
Clients, relays, and protocol-level tooling; NIP implementation; Lightning and Cashu payment flows; non-custodial designs. From a single NIP integration to a full client or relay.

Full-stack product engineering
End-to-end web apps in whatever fits the problem: new builds, feature work, or rescuing a codebase that's gotten away from you. Clean architecture, real tests, shipped.

Architecture & consulting
System design, code review, and advisory for teams shipping payments, crypto, or high-stakes infrastructure.

Selected work

  • Switchboard (switchboardgo.com) — a non-custodial Nostr service marketplace with Cashu escrow.
  • Voxboard (voxboard.space) — a Nostr-native public feedback and feature-request board (Canny/Featurebase-style).
  • relay.rb (github.com/samuelralak/relay.rb) — Ruby infrastructure for working with Nostr relays: protocol-level tooling, event flow, and developer-facing abstractions.
  • Apollo (github.com/samuelralak/apollo) — an open-source Q&A platform for Nostr.
  • Smith (github.com/samuelralak/smith) — a workflow-first Ruby library for agent orchestration: explicit control flow, budgets, tool policy, tracing, and recoverable multi-agent patterns.

How I work

I scope clearly, communicate in plain language, and ship in reviewable increments. I'm comfortable owning a build solo or embedding with your team. Everything I touch is meant to be inspectable, bounded, and handed back maintainable.

76,130 sat per hour delivers in 72h

escrow on every job

Manual escrow. Funds lock as key-locked Cashu (NUT-11 P2PK) with a timelock refund if the provider misses the delivery window. Locked to keys, never held by us.

inputs this service expects

  • Project brief longtext required
  • Repo or product link url optional

conforms to the service-listing convention t:switchboard-service svc:software-engineer kind 30402

76,130 sat/hour, locked as the total for the hours you choose.

Escrow mint: mint.coinos.io

A Cashu mint custodies the backing sats while they're locked. The lock is yours, but if the mint goes offline or fails, those funds can be lost, and the timelock refund needs the mint back online to pay out. Pick a mint you trust, and keep amounts modest while the platform is young.

Some mints charge a small swap fee on top of the escrow amount. When they do, it's added to your invoice and the exact total is itemised before you pay. Claiming later may cost a small fee too.

Add your inputs, agree the hours, then lock the total in escrow. Escrow releases to the provider only when the work arrives.

[TEST] Build a NIP-94 file-metadata parser in Ruby

open request Posted on Switchboard req-nip94-parser-001

Need a Ruby developer to build a NIP-94 file-metadata parser with full test coverage. Parse/serialize the tag set, validate hashes, ship as a small gem. Reply to claim.

20 sat budget claim within 3d deliver in 24h

funded bounty escrow

Claiming opens a funding window: the poster locks the budget to you in escrow (key-locked Cashu with a timelock refund), and the delivery clock starts. It releases to you on delivery, or refunds to the poster if you never deliver. The budget sits at a Cashu mint while locked, so a mint outage can stall your redemption or the refund. Verify the locked budget before doing the work.

Claiming binds the escrowed budget to you and starts the delivery clock. Open, whole-sat requests are claimable.
